
The City of Surprise has introduced a grant program designed to foster stronger community ties and enhance local neighborhoods. As reported earlier by the City of Surprise, the Surprise City Council has earmarked $10,000 for the Neighborhood Grant Program, which aims to provide small grants for neighborhood events, community functions, or improvements for the fiscal year 2026.
Eligible projects must serve a public benefit and result in something that bolsters a neighborhood or the Surprise community at large, like the program criteria stipulate they must also be completed by June 2026 and require the involvement of residents in planning and execution not just as passive recipients but as active architects of their communal destiny, moreover, educational or community-building aspects are emphasized, and it's important to note nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations cannot apply, as reported by the City of Surprise.
Applications for the grant need the backing of at least five local residents, with the a signatory nod from neighbors living within the residential area proposing the project. Additionally, if an HOA governs the neighborhood, approval from the organization will be required. The application can be submitted by email or delivered in person to Deb Perry at City Hall before the deadline on August 22, as stated by the City of Surprise.
A pre-application meeting will take place on June 30, offering interested parties details about the application process and the grant itself, the event will be held at 5 p.m. in the Council Overflow Room at Surprise City Hall, located at 16000 N.
