A quiet East Cobb neighborhood was disrupted by a drive-by shooting early Monday morning, but fortunately, no one was injured. According to WSBTV, Antonio Perez is alleged to have been the main perpetrator in the incident, arriving at the home on Allgood Road in a white 2013 Land Rover at around 3 a.m. Along with several other individuals, Perez reportedly exited the vehicle and opened fire on the residence before fleeing the scene.
Police responded to the gunfire at approximately 3:21 a.m. and discovered a residence that had been hit multiple times by bullets. Despite the property damage, the three people inside, one of whom was a teenager, remained unharmed. "Very scary, I have a little one. I have two daughters, and I'm just scared," neighbor Kristina Arnaoutova told WSBTV, emphasizing the fear that now lingers in what was once a peaceful neighborhood.
The Cobb County Police Department Major Crimes Unit took command of the investigation, which by Tuesday led to the arrest of Antonio Perez, Jr. and three juveniles, as per information from FOX 5 Atlanta. Perez and a 17-year-old male are facing three counts of aggravated assault along with one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, while the two additional juveniles are being charged with weapons and drug offenses.
Residents in the area were shocked by the violence in their typically serene community. "I’ve been here for probably like more than 10 years, and it's been very nice quiet neighborhood," said another resident, reflecting the common sentiment of disbelief and unease, according to WSBTV. Video footage from nearby security cameras played an integral role in the response, as police canvassed neighbors and searched for evidence. Though some camera systems failed to capture the crime, these records did document the thoroughness of police follow-up in the aftermath. The investigation remains open as detectives continue to examine the motive behind the shooting and determine if any additional individuals were involved. Anyone with insights on the case is urged to contact the Cobb County Police Department Major Crimes Unit at 770-499-3945, as further details are sought to piece together this jarring incident.
