
Stockton has witnessed a recent closure to a homicide case that shook the 2400 block of E Main St just over a week ago. The Stockton Police Department reported a man being fatally shot on the night of May 23rd, leaving the community looking for answers. According to a Facebook post by the Stockton Police Department, officers arrived on the scene to find a 30-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to the chest, who was quickly transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.
The case swiftly moved to the hands of homicide detectives who have been diligently working to piece together the circumstances surrounding the shooting. It was in this relentless pursuit of justice that detectives were able to identify Efrain Hinojoza, 31, as the suspect. The efforts to locate him culminated on May 30th when Hinojoza was apprehended by the Stockton Police Department, working in conjunction with the US Marshals Task Force. According to the official report, the arrest transpired without incident in Stockton, allowing the community to at least begin to close this violent chapter.
The suspect, Hinojoza, now faces homicide charges and has been booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.
