
A stabbing incident at Santa Rosa's Bicentennial Park yesterday has led to the arrest of a 39-year-old suspect. The Santa Rosa Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 6:05 PM after receiving reports of the attack, per their social media post. Officers found the victim, a 43-year-old male, with multiple stab wounds and quickly transported him to a local hospital for emergency treatment.
SRPD detectives and field evidence technicians were dispatched to start an investigation. It took officials little time to swiftly pinpoint and detain Gerry Flickenger, the alleged assailant, at an apartment complex near the scene. "Investigators learned that the victim was attacked by Flickenger following a verbal altercation in the park," according to the Santa Rosa Police. The encounter escalated, resulting in the victim sustaining stab wounds to the head and neck.
A subsequent search warrant was executed at Flickenger’s residence. The findings of this search have not been made public at this time. Flickenger faced a booking at the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility on the charge of attempted murder, defined under the code 664/187 PC.
