Following the stabbing, deputies launched an investigation which led to another call the next day, on June 27, involving "threats with a knife". Law enforcement responded to the 6700 block of Madison Avenue where they detained 27-year-old Michael Brown, who matched a description of the suspect. Further investigation connected Brown to the stabbing, and he was subsequently taken into custody and held at the Sacramento County Main Jail without the option for bail, awaiting a court appearance scheduled on July 9, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
Following Brown's arrest, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office has initiated a broader investigation into the motivations and circumstances surrounding the incident.
