The streets of Northeast were disrupted by an alarming incident last month when a tire shop became the scene of a harrowing armed robbery, and now the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has reported taking a suspect into custody. As recounted by an official police release, the incident occurred in the dead of night on April 29, where two individuals stormed into a 24-hour tire shop wielding firearms in a forceful show of demands and intimidation.
The suspects arrived at approximately 3:19 a.m. at the establishment on Florida Avenue, where they confronted an employee and stole cash from the till, the guns in their hands painting a picture of urgency against the backdrop of vulnerability, they fled on foot, leaving behind a trail of questions and the echo of their actions that unsettled the early hours. Yesterday, Angelo Maurice Harris, a 37-year-old man from Southeast, D.C., was seized by the police in connection with the heist, leading to his charge with Armed Robbery (Gun).
While an arrest has been made, the MPD underlines this case is not yet closed and continues to ask the community for any further information. The Department's standing offer of up to $10,000 for tips leading to an arrest and conviction remains in effect for those ready to come forward, whilst warning against personal intervention, and to instead reach out via phone at (202) 727-9099 or the TEXT TIP LINE at 50411.
