Two individuals sustained critical injuries after leaping off a freeway bridge in Goodyear, Arizona, following a presumed shoplifting incident and subsequent police pursuit. As reported by FOX 10 Phoenix, the harrowing events unfolded yesterday evening when Goodyear Police responded to a call around 5:30 p.m. regarding shoplifting at the junction of Dysart and McDowell roads.
Sgt. Mayra Reeson of the Goodyear Police informed us that after receiving a vehicle description from the caller, officers arrived on the scene, located the vehicle, and attempted a traffic stop. "The caller gave a vehicle description and said the vehicle was still in the parking lot. Officers arrived and located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to yield, eventually stopping on the I-10 freeway near Dysart," Sgt. Reeson conveyed in an account obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix.
The confrontation took a perilous turn when the man and woman exited their vehicle and jumped from the I-10 bridge, leading to their critical injuries, as noted by the 12 News report. Both were swiftly transported to the hospital. According to police, three additional people within the vehicle were detained at the scene, though their identities and any charges they may face have not been disclosed.
