Streets in Tacoma are about to see some side-stepping as sidewalk repairs kick off this coming week. According to the City of Tacoma, work will be underway along Ruston Way, stretching from McCarver to North 49th streets, starting June 25 through July 2. The Public Works Department's Street Operations Division is the team behind the tools from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., daily.
It seems flaggers will be setting up shop, manning the flow of vehicles, and guiding pedestrians around any disruption, with the weather calling the shots on this one. Should the skies open up, rescheduling might be on the table. The city has made sure to give everyone a heads up, planting notice boards that will keep the info fresh and current for those driving by. But as we all know, patience is going to be your passenger if you're navigating these repairs during your commute.
For those with burning questions or the inevitable construction conundrums, the city's not leaving you hanging. Project Manager Derrick Wells is on standby for any queries. You can hit him up at [email protected] or give a ring to (253) 591-5430. Just remember, the faster these sidewalks get fixed, the sooner we're back to our normal routines, unobstructed strolls, and clear commutes. So, hang in there, Tacoma.
While I got you here, don't forget to drive with a dose of caution through Ruston Way's facelift. Delays are inevitable, as the city takes the time to patch up our pedestrian pathways. Keeping an eye on the notice boards is wise, they'll be the bearers of any last-minute changes the weather throws our way. Safe travels to you all, and let's give a nod to those flaggers braving the elements for our safe passage.
