A man was fatally struck by a CSX train in Tampa yesterday night, prompting a death investigation by local authorities. The Tampa Police Department responded to the scene in the 300 block of W Busch Blvd., where they discovered the body of an adult male under the train. The tragic incident occurred as the train traveled west from N Florida Ave., WFLA reports.
Following the incident, a closure of the intersection at N Florida Avenue and W Busch Boulevard was put in place for several hours, causing disruptions in the area. Roads have since been reopened as of 3 a.m. today. In light of the ongoing investigation, drivers were initially advised to seek alternative routes to avoid the area, as stated by WTSP.
The Tampa Police Department is actively looking into the circumstances leading to the deadly collision. As part of the investigative process, officers arrived at the scene following reports of a deceased individual and confirmed the involvement of a CSX train heading westbound. The Tampa FP indicated that both northbound and southbound lanes at the intersection were affected by the investigation.
