In the early hours of Sunday morning, Tampa was shaken by a fatal incident that claimed the life of a man in his late 40s. The Tampa Police Department responded to a distressing 911 call at 3:20 am from a man claiming he had to shoot another in self-defense. This confrontation took place near W. Carmen St, just west of N. Oregon Ave, as reported by the Tampa Police Department. The caller, a black male in his early 30s, waited for law enforcement to arrive, still armed and amidst the aftermath of his alleged necessary action.
Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the victim close by at W. Gray St and N. Oregon Ave. The wounded man, suffering from gunshot wounds, was receiving life-saving attempts from the officers until Tampa Fire Rescue could take over. The caller who fired the shots cooperated with investigators and handed over his firearm willingly. As per the Tampa Police Department, investigators are tirelessly piecing together the narrative, interviewing witnesses, and collecting any additional evidence that could shed light on whether the shooting was justified or if charges are warranted.
