Tampa's own fleet service has landed itself on the map, securing spots on nationally esteemed lists for its exemplary operations in fleet management. The City of Tampa's fleet, comprising roughly 3,887 city-owned vehicles, has been recognized by both Government Fleet and NAFA, the latter being the globe's most extensive Fleet Management Association, as stated in an announcement made public via Tampa's official website.
Having never before secured such rankings, Tampa has made its debut this year on the notable lists that benchmark city, county, and state fleets across America. Featured in Government Fleet's Top 50 Leading Fleets and NAFA's 100 Best Fleets of 2025, these recognitions highlight the effective strategies behind Tampa's fleet management. Announced as being in top performance, this fleet is essential to the functioning of services like the Tampa Police Department and Tampa Fire Rescue. While maintaining their rolling stock, the department reportedly clocked in an impressive $1 million in operational savings during fiscal year 2024, as the same source declares.
Adriana Colina, Director of Logistics and Asset Management, described the behemoth task of fleet maintenance, "Maintaining Tampa’s fleet is an around the clock operation, and everyone, from our mechanics, to our supervisors, and administrative staff, are working tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our city moving — literally," according to the city's announcement. She further mentioned that Tampa is now setting a benchmark for other municipalities to emulate.
Committed to sustainability, the Tampa fleet headquarters at City Center on Hanna Avenue were awarded a LEED Silver certification, recognizing the environmental considerations embedded within the building's design and construction. Construction of a new facility dedicated to Wastewater vehicles was recently announced, promising to add to this sustainable fleet infrastructure, which was reported by the same official website.
