Thurston County is asking for public input on its 20-year development plan, known as Thurston 2045. According to the Thurston County's website, the plan addresses expected population growth of nearly 89,000 people by 2045, potentially reaching around 400,000 residents.
The Comprehensive Plan update will cover areas such as housing, transportation, the environment, natural resources, climate, and economic development. The Thurston County is seeking public feedback to help guide these long-term strategies.
To gather input, county officials will host an open house during the 46th Annual Swede Day Mid-Sommer Festival. Residents can visit the Thurston 2045 booth to learn about the plan, ask questions, and share feedback. The event will take place on Saturday next week from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Swede Hall, 18543 Albany St. SW in Rochester, WA.
For those unable to attend in person, comments can be submitted online at www.thurston2045.org.
