In the early hours of Thursday, downtown Los Angeles was the site of a harrowing incident where a forklift and an Audi collided, resulting in severe injuries for both operators. According to a CBS Los Angeles report, the crash occurred around 2:36 a.m. near Naomi Avenue and Olympic Boulevard. The driver of the Audi, whom police say ran a red light while traveling westbound on Olympic Boulevard, struck the forklift, sending its operator onto the roadway.
The intensity of the crash was such that, following the initial collision, the forklift careened across the street and crashed into a nearby truck. The forklift operator was taken to a local hospital with head injuries, suffering a leg injury from the crash, the driver of the Audi was also taken to the hospital. As investigators continue to unravel the specifics of the accident, the final cause of the crash remains undetermined.
Meanwhile, a KTLA report reveals that both the forklift operator and the car driver were critically injured and ejected from their vehicles due to the force of the collision. Taken to a local hospital, they both were listed in critical condition. The identities of these individuals have not been disclosed as of yet.
Olympic Boulevard became a site for investigation where it was closed between Naomi Avenue and Hooper Avenue, while authorities worked through the wreckage to piece together what had transpired. They are yet to release further details on the crash that remains under investigation, evidently keen on understanding every aspect of what unfolded in that intersection, which routinely hums with the pulse of the city but was shattered by the abrupt violence of metal on metal.
