Two individuals are battling for their lives following a residential fire in Port Orange, Florida. The blaze engulfed a house on Nash Lane early Saturday, as reported by ClickOrlando. The City of Port Orange disclosed that firefighters and police were summoned to the scene around 3:30 a.m., where they found the two victims in critical condition. Both were promptly transported to a local hospital.
Compelling footage from the scene was captured, showing the night punctuated by flames tearing through the home's structure. Neighbor Avery Brown recounted to WESH, "I heard like crackling from the fire once I went out," describing the harrowing sounds that preface such visually dramatic emergencies.
In the hours after the firefighting efforts, officials have not yet determined the cause of the destructive event. The State Fire Marshal's office is leading the investigation into what triggered the blaze.
