
A tragic roadway incident in Fayetteville has resulted in the loss of two lives and left two others grappling with critical injuries. The collision, which involved two vehicles, occurred yesterday afternoon. CBS17 reports that the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Cedar Creek Road near LA Dunham Road to find two individuals dead at the scene.
Further information received by WRAL reveals that the crash prompted the closure of Cedar Creek Road in both directions, advising drivers to seek alternate routes. Authorities have yet to publically release the identities of the deceased. It seems this unfortunate event was a direct result of one vehicle losing control and veering into the path of another, ABC11 additionally notes.
According to the details provided by the Fayetteville police, a Dodge Charger was northwest on Cedar Creek Road while a Honda was traveling south. For reasons still under investigation, the Dodge Charger lost control, resulting in it to cross into the opposite lane and collide with the Honda. The occupants of the Dodge Charger were the two fatalities, while the injured parties were in the Honda.
Police have indicated that excessive speed appears to to have been a key factor in the crash. The two additional victims have been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
