Two people were seriously injured in a crash involving a motorcycle and a Jaguar in Spring Lake Township yesterday, according to officials. The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) and Spring Lake Fire Rescue responded to the collision around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of W. Savage Street and School Street, WOOD TV reported.
A 2020 Jaguar, driven by a 56-year-old Grand Haven man, was turning onto School Street when it collided with a motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction. The motorcycle's driver, a 70-year-old man, and his 67-year-old female passenger, both from Fremont, sustained serious injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital, WZZM 13 reported. The Jaguar driver was not injured. Authorities believe the crash may have occurred due to a misjudgment of the motorcycle's speed or distance.
The motorcyclist was found lying on the ground when emergency responders arrived. Police report that the traffic crash is still under investigation, as MLive noted. Local traffic was temporarily redirected while crews managed the scene. Further updates will be provided by the sheriff's office as the investigation continues.
