Two men were arrested on firearm charges following a thwarted assault attempt in Montgomery County, according to local police reports. Identified as 31-year-old Lowell Isaiah Young of Frederick and 26-year-old Daron Antonio Banks of Montgomery Village, the pair now face serious legal repercussions.
The incident unfolded on June 3 when, during a surveillance operation, officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 6th District Community Action Team (DCAT) witnessed the duo chasing an unidentified individual through Cider Mill Apartments. This turned out to be an attempted assault and upon noticing police presence, Young and Banks fled in a 2020 Ford Fusion. The vehicle registration was quickly discovered to be suspended, prompting the officers to conduct a traffic stop at the intersection of Christopher Avenue and Hellingly Place, the police then arrested Young and Banks, as reported by the Montgomery County Police Department.
During the arrest, police noticed a loaded 9mm privately made firearm (PMF), which lacked a serial number, beneath the front passenger seat. Young and Banks were charged with multiple counts, including possession of a firearm without a serial number and having a loaded handgun in a vehicle. Both suspects were transported to the Montgomery County Processing Unit (CPU) by the arresting officers.
