In a grim sequence of events last night, a man in his 50s suffered critical injuries after being hit by an SUV in a hit-and-run incident in Queens. According to ABC7NY, the accident occurred just before midnight near the intersection of 101st Avenue and 116th Street in Ozone Park. Police found the man unresponsive, and he was subsequently rushed to Jamaica Hospital by first responders.
The investigation has been complicated by the hit-and-run nature of the incident, with authorities stating the black SUV that struck the pedestrian continued traveling eastbound on 101st Avenue after the collision. Officers are now piecing together clues, trying to determine what led up to the tragic event while the victim clings to life in the hospital.
Meanwhile, in a separate but hauntingly similar account provided by PIX11, a 66-year-old man was also struck by a hit-and-run driver at the same location. The incident happened around 11:50 p.m. as the man was traversing 116th Street. Police have stated that the man was critically injured and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The driver involved in the latter incident remains at large, and NYPD is actively seeking them. While the Queens community reels from the two critical injuries caused by hit-and-run drivers in the span of minutes, the search for the perpetrator continues, with police urging anyone with information to come forward.
