Two Phoenix police officers sustained injuries early Saturday morning when their patrol vehicle was struck by another car. According to the Phoenix Police Department, the collision took place near the intersection of 35th Avenue and Bethany Home Road while the officers were responding to a call, as reported by ABC15.
The incident occurred as the police cruiser, a fully marked city vehicle, was traveling southbound. A sedan moving in the opposite direction collided with it. The conditions of the crash remain unclear, however, impairment has not been ruled out as a contributing factor. Both police officers and the driver of the sedan were transported to the hospital for precautionary reasons after the crash, 12News confirmed.
The crash happened around 4:30 a.m., and authorities quickly began investigating the cause. Both the officers and the civilian driver were given medical care, and the case is still being reviewed, as per 12News.
