Two construction workers have been hospitalized in critical condition following an electrocution incident at a job site in Livingston County, Michigan. According to CBS News Detroit, the accident occurred yesterday at approximately 12:30 p.m., as workers were pouring concrete. The boom spreader from a concrete truck came into contact with a primary power line, resulting in it breaking and falling onto the two workers.
Livingston County Sheriff Mike Murphy provided details of the incident, as reported by Audacy, saying "A cement pumper truck struck a utility wire." He continued, "When the pumper tube hit the wire, the guy on the truck was electrocuted. That caused the line to break, which came down on the guy that was unloading the cement." The victims were attended by deputies and a crew from DTE Energy at the scene and subsequently transported to University of Michigan Hospital.
The investigation into the accident has been handed over to the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA). While local authorities and DTE provided initial emergency assistance, MIOSHA is now responsible for revealing any new insights into how the accident occurred, as ClickOnDetroit reports. The names and backgrounds of the injured men, as well as the details about the construction company involved, have not yet been disclosed to the public.
