Local fruit lovers are in for a treat, as Macomb County has officially welcomed the start of the u-pick strawberry season. Leading the list of must-visit destinations is Verellen Orchards and Cider Mill, which has opened its fields to the public for a hands-on harvesting experience.
According to a recent update from the official Macomb County website, Verellen Orchards and Cider Mill is now open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., offering early risers and weekend visitors ample time to enjoy the season.
For those unfamiliar with u-pick traditions, a few practical tips can enhance the experience. Given the nature of berry picking, visitors are advised to wear comfortable clothing that can handle a few stains, along with sturdy footwear.
