Two Memphis men wanted for first-degree murder were nabbed by the U.S. Marshals in Middle Tennessee this Wednesday. As per the U.S. Marshals Service, Demanuel Jackson, 18, and Mario Simmons, 19, were indicted for their alleged involvement in a double homicide that took place on April 24 near a school at S. Lauderdale Street at Mississippi Boulevard - an incident that led to a lockdown of the school and left two males dead.
Responding to the scene that afternoon, Memphis Police Department (MPD) detectives initiated their hunt for the suspects, eventually securing indictments from a grand jury. Asked to assist, the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force in Memphis played a key role. Having developed information that targeted Jackson and Simmons in Murfreesboro, investigative leads from the Middle Tennessee Joint Fugitive Task Force were then sent, leading to the capture of those suspects at a local residence at around 8:30 p.m.
Following their arrest, Jackson and Simmons were booked into the Rutherford County Jail, awaiting a transfer to Shelby County. "Once again, I commend the great investigative work of the Memphis Police Department and appreciate the collaboration from the fugitive task force in Middle Tennessee who put handcuffs on these suspects," U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller lauded the teams responsible, as reported by the U.S. Marshals Service.
