A somber discovery was made in Ceres this past Sunday evening. The Ceres Police Department responded to a call that led to the finding of a deceased man in a canal. According to a Facebook post by the Ceres Police Department, the incident occurred on June 1, 2025, when officers were dispatched around 6:00 p.m. to the 3000 block of Moore Road after receiving reports from concerned citizens.

These citizens, while strolling along the canal bank, happened to notice what appeared to be a male body submerged in the water. The Ceres Police Officers quickly came forth to assist, supporting the Modesto Fire Department and American Medical Response personnel in retrieving the body from the canal. By approximately 6:24 p.m., the individual was pronounced deceased by AMR. The deceased male was found only partially clothed and absent any identification to shed immediate light on his identity, as detailed by the Ceres Police Department.

The cause of death is still unknown and will be determined after a medical examination by the Coroner’s Office. The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office now has custody of the body.
