A discovery at a Mesa Taco Bell has led to the closure of an unsolved case. Last night, an unidentified woman was found deceased in the restroom of the fast-food restaurant located near Southern Avenue and Dobson Road. Mesa Police Department stated that the woman seemed to have succumbed to a medical event, FOX 10 Phoenix reports.
In a related development, the Mesa police have confirmed that a body found earlier this month is that of Carolyn Scheuer, a 55-year-old woman who was reported missing since May 25, when she left her residence in the East Valley, 12 News disclosed. She had not been heard from since, and her family's alarmed concern lead to a police investigation into her whereabouts.
Mesa police indicate that their investigation suggests no foul play at the scene where the woman was found at the Taco Bell. They remained at the location last night to conduct a thorough examination, fulfilling their responsibility to determine all facts surrounding untimely deaths within their jurisdiction.
Following the identification of Scheuer's body, police extended their condolences to the family. In a statement obtained by 12 News, the department said, "Our hearts are with Carolyn's family while they process this devastating news." The Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office has not yet disclosed Scheuer's manner of death, which is currently listed as "pending." The connection, if any, between the two events has not been established publicly by the authorities.
