A wanted man, Richard Graham, age 41, was apprehended yesterday following a SWAT intervention in Crafton, after law enforcement's attempt to capture a different suspect with multiple felony warrants led to an unexpected arrest. According to WPXI, the Allegheny County Police responded to an incident that began at approximately 4:08 p.m. near Parkview Street.
Upon arrival at a local apartment building, officers sought an individual, allegedly holed up inside, who initially refused to come out. However, the man eventually made a break for it, dashing out the back door. It was then that officers deployed a Taser and less-lethal munitions to subdue him. TribLIVE reported that he was subsequently sent to a hospital for evaluation.
What ensued was an unexpected turn in the day's events: the individual taken into custody was not the person law enforcement thought to be barricaded inside the building. Instead, they had stumbled upon Graham, who himself was wanted on multiple arrest warrants in both Pennsylvania and California. As a result of this string of events, Graham now faces additional charges, including escape and resisting arrest.
