A damaged underground utility line caused significant traffic delays in the Hemby Bridge and Indian Trail area, prompting road closures and detours.
According to the Union County Sheriff's Office Facebook post, Idlewild Road near Mill Grove Road was reduced to a single lane, and Mill Grove Road between Idlewild and Beacon Hills Road was closed as repair crews responded to the incident.
Authorities estimated that normal traffic patterns would not resume for at least 6 to 8 hours. Drivers were advised to use alternate routes and follow all posted signs and barricades for safety.
The affected roads are commonly used by residents and businesses, and the disruption caused delays throughout the area.
