Utah's Governor Spencer J. Cox and Lieutenant Governor Deidre M. Henderson have a week packed with meetings and public events, as detailed by the governor's official schedule. Today, Gov. Cox started his morning with a back-to-back Board and Commissions meeting, followed closely by a meeting with Tom Ross, the Executive Director of the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice for the state of Utah, both held at the Governor’s Office, Utah State Capitol.
Later, Cox will take part in a White House Historical Association Luncheon and follow that up with a monthly news conference at KUED Studio in Salt Lake City. The governor is also slated to meet with his senior advisors back at the Capitol later this afternoon. To always put a spotlight on the significant concerns in the state, Cox intends to speak at an inaugural event for Delta’s new Salt Lake City to Incheon flight service this evening, marking a milestone for Utah's connectivity with international destinations, according to the Utah Governor's Office.
On the flip side, Lt. Gov. Henderson's day began with a presentation at the TerraPower Conference, after which she was to attend the same Boards & Commissions meeting as Gov. Cox. She's expected to meet with the Consul General of Peru and discuss matters with her Senior Advisor for Federal Affairs and Election Coordinator candidates throughout the afternoon. Wrapping up her day, Henderson will meet with various state employees and advisors, maintaining the administrative rigor that keeps Utah's executive branch ticking.
Throughout the week, the governor and lieutenant governor will keep engaging with a diverse set of constituencies and organizations, from speaking at celebrations to honorary recognitions and discussions about tourism and safety. Henderson, notably, will also make an address during a groundbreaking ceremony at the University Hospital on Friday. These commitments are evident not only in tackling immediate operational responsibilities but also in taking hold of strategic possibilities and challenges facing the state of Utah.
