Early Sunday morning in Kentwood, a vehicle crashed into the Hero's Corner building around 3:40 a.m. at Eastern Avenue and 48th Street. Police said the crash happened after a fight during a party at the facility. Several people were seriously injured, but all are expected to survive. The building, which provides services to veterans and first responders, had major damage to its entryway, as reported by WZZM13.
The Kentwood Police Department responded to the scene, where several people were taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver was taken into custody, and police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, as noted by both WOODTV and FOX 17.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing. The Kentwood Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact their detective bureau at 616.656.6604 or share tips anonymously through Silent Observer at 616.774.2345.
