Amanda Kempton, a 32-year-old Virginia resident, has been arrested and charged in connection with the hit-and-run death of Sara Burack, a real estate agent known for her appearance on the Netflix show "Million Dollar Beach House." According to ABC7NY, Suffolk County police took Kempton into custody on charges of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident where a fatality occurred, after the fatal incident which took place early Thursday morning on Montauk Highway West in Hampton Bays.
In court on Saturday, Kempton pleaded not guilty to the charges, suggesting that she mistook Sara Burack for a traffic cone at the time of the incident. Despite allegations that she had visited a tavern prior to the accident, her lawyer stated alcohol was not a factor. "The woman thought she had hit a traffic cone," Kempton's lawyer informed the court, as reported by the New York Post. The prosecutor approached the situation with a sense of urgency to swiftly secure a higher bail, considering Kempton had plans to soon return to Virginia.
The incident left Sara Burack seriously injured, with police discovering her unconscious near the Villa Paul restaurant. After being transported to Stony Brook University Hospital, she sadly succumbed to her injuries. Apart from her recent television presence, Burack's professional life was rooted in luxury real estate, having worked with Nest Seekers International and boasting a long-standing relationship with The Hamptons.
