Jonathan Galindo, 38, has been convicted of second-degree murder and aggravated burglary in the 2020 stabbing death of Kevin Fitzgerald, 61, in Waltham. Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Waltham Police Chief Kevin O'Connell announced the verdict today, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office.

The incident occurred on Halloween night in 2020. At 9:14 p.m., Fitzgerald called 911 to report being stabbed. Police found him at his Alder Street home, and he was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after 10:00 p.m.

The investigation, led by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police, and Waltham Police, used forensic evidence to identify Galindo as the suspect. A knife recovered at the scene contained Galindo’s DNA, and his fingerprint was found on the storm door. Galindo was also linked to the victim as a former housemate.

A search of Galindo’s apartment uncovered a black mask and a phone that placed him at the crime scene. The phone's search history showed inquiries about local stabbings the day after the incident.

Galindo’s trial began on May 8 and lasted three weeks. A Middlesex jury returned the guilty verdict on Monday. Sentencing is scheduled for July 15.
