A recent arrest has been made in a case involving felony murder and armed robbery. Avery Taylor, 20, from Washington, D.C., was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service. This development follows an indictment in May 2025 that charged Taylor, along with Rayon Davis Jr. and Quintin Reed, both 18, with first-degree murder while armed, amongst other charges, according to a press release by the Department of Justice.
According to the same source, Taylor's arraignment occurred before Superior Court Judge Rainey Brandt, who ruled to hold him without bond until a detention hearing set for July 1. His accomplices, Davis Jr. and Reed, were arrested last year on August 16 and have remained in custody also without bond.
Allegedly linked to a crew known as “On the Clock Gang” or “OCG” from the Woodland Terrance neighborhood, the defendants are accused of fatally shooting 39-year-old Dwayne Barbour during a robbery. The incident took place inside a stairwell at 2921 Knox Place SE on December 20, 2023, where they purportedly robbed Barbour of a Rolex watch valued at approximately $10,000. Barbour succumbed to his injuries eleven days later, as detailed in the DOJ's statement.
The investigation is a collaborative effort between the Metropolitan Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, with the U.S. Marshals Service providing crucial assistance. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Ryan Sellinger and John Parron are leading the prosecution.
