Authorities in Washington, D.C., are on the hunt for a young man accused of murder following a deadly shooting incident in the southeastern part of the city. The Metropolitan Police Department has identified Mercury Ford, 20, as the suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Tequila Parker. According to a report by DC News Now, the incident occurred on May 27, and Ford is presently facing charges of first-degree murder while armed.
The shooting happened in the 2300 block of Pitts Place SE, where police, responding to the emergency at approximately 12:45 p.m., found Parker with a gunshot wound. Efforts to save her life were unsuccessful, and Parker was pronounced dead at the scene. In a subsequent press conference, MPD Chief Pamela Smith described an escalating dispute between Parker and a neighbor, which culminated when "a man and woman chased Parker down the street" and the man allegedly shot her, as reported by FOX 5 DC. Patrol officers arrived at the scene following the shooting report.
The police have made an appeal to the public, urging anyone with information regarding Ford's whereabouts to come forward.
