A day care employee from Rising Stars Academy Day Care in Kenosha has been charged with child abuse after a two-year-old boy in her care was found with suspicious bruises; the 26-year-old Nour Althafir of Waukegan, Illinois, was arrested on June 3 following a detailed investigation, WISN 12 news reports.
Susan Onslow, the mother of the child, originally noticed the injuries in late April and reported them to authorities. surveillance videos later reviewed by the Kenosha Police depicted Althafir engaging in several concerning behaviors with the toddler, including grabbing and shaking him, according to TMJ4.
The court documents reveal discrepancies in the day care's explanation for the child's injuries and what was observed on video, Rising Stars Academy workers had initially told the child's father the boy sustained bruises after getting stuck under a cabinet meanwhile Althafir admitted to possibly injuring the child while handling him but denied the ball-rolling incident was intentional, as per a statement obtained by TMJ4.
During her court appearance on June 5, FOX6 News disclosed that the prosecution argued the bruises on the two-year-old looked like finger marks, suggesting a staged accident narrative, which contrasts with the worker's claims; Althafir is currently held at Kenosha County Jail and her next court appearance is expected to provide further developments in this unsettling case.
