A full westbound closure of I-894 is scheduled for the upcoming weekend, from the Mitchell Interchange to the Hale Interchange, for final road work. Alderman Peter Burgelis has informed the community that this is part of ongoing rehabilitation between 84th and 35th Streets, according to the City of Milwaukee.
Weekend closures on I-894 will begin at 11:00 p.m. on Friday and continue until 5:30 a.m. on June 9. Drivers should prepare for delays, especially in areas "particularly along freeway off-ramps and along West Layton Avenue," as stated by the City of Milwaukee.
Eastbound lanes of I-894 will be closed from 11:00 p.m. on June 13 until 5:30 a.m. on June 16 for road work. Milwaukee Police District 6 will have special patrols assigned to assist with traffic during the closure, as reported by the City of Milwaukee. Alderman Scott Burgelis said in a city release, "I would encourage everyone to allow extra time for travel, and remember to be patient and courteous to your fellow drivers."
