Drivers in Rockwall County should prepare for a series of lane closures on IH 30 set to begin today and last through the following Saturday. The construction activities, which involve bridge work, embankment construction, and various removals and relocations, will primarily occur overnight to minimize disruptions. However, motorists are advised to expect delays and plan their routes accordingly, according to Rockwall County's website.
The lane closures include the eastbound left lane from FM 548 to FM 2642 from 9 PM to 5 AM for bridge activities at FM 35 and Sabine Creek. Similarly, the westbound left lane from FM 2642 to FM 548 will be closed for the same activities in the opposite direction, on the same days. These closures are designed to allow contractors to efficiently carry out necessary bridge activities, while the overnight scheduling aims to reduce the impact on daytime traffic flows. Additional closures affect the eastbound left lane at FM 3549 for embankment, removals, and relocations of CSB, while the westbound left lane from Erby Campbell to FM 551 will also undergo embankment and removals at these hours.
As the week progresses, from Monday, June 9, daytime closures come into effect with the John King East to West and West to East U-turns shut from 9 AM to 3 PM due to bridge activities, flagging operations will be in place on FM 548 for drainage work and bridge activities at Pond Branch, the purpose is to ensure safe and efficient progress on the bridge structures, potentially extending traffic delays into daylight hours for those accustomed to utilizing the U-turns or traveling through the FM 548 area.
Alongside these interruptions, embankment and removal activities will necessitate partial lane closures on the 30 Eastbound Frontage Road from SH 205 to Townsend Dr and the Westbound Frontage Road from Townsend Dr to SH 205, lane closures such as these, while disruptive, serve the broader interest of infrastructural revitalization, promising smoother and safer journeys down the line. Notably, an eastbound right lane closure at Townsend Dr. will be in effect overnight, and Exit 69 may be closed as needed to install CSB. The contractor crews are coordinating with emergency services to ensure access through the closure in emergent situations, thus guaranteeing that critical responders can pass through unimpeded.
