The Wilmington Police Department is turning to the community for help after a burglary led to the theft of a dog and various other items. The break-in occurred in the early hours of May 30, as reported by authorities.
Officials were called to a residence on the 4100 block of Northwest Street after the burglary was discovered. The stolen canine, a female French Bulldog named "Tooty," has become the focus of a city-wide search. The Police have distributed a photograph of Tooty in the hopes that someone recognizes the beloved pet and comes forward with information.
According to the Wilmington Police Department report, the incident took place at approximately 1:14 a.m. Not only was the dog taken, but the suspect or suspects also made off with a litany of other items from the home, details of which have not been made public.
Detective Jessica Gledhill of the WPD Criminal Investigations Division is spearheading the inquiry. The department is urging anyone with insights into the crime to contact Detective Gledhill directly at (302) 576-3667 or via email at [email protected]. They hope that tips from the public will lead to a reunion between Tooty and her owner, as well as a resolution to this distressing theft.
