
A tragic scene unfolded in a northeast Las Vegas valley apartment complex on Saturday as a woman was found fatally stabbed,. The incident occurred on the 6900 block of Dunsbach Way, an area flanked by East Lake Mead Boulevard and North Hollywood Boulevard, as reported by News3LV.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene shortly after 5:40 p.m., where they discovered the victim with multiple stab wounds. Despite the best efforts of medical personnel, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Mason Mireles, a 34-year-old man, believed to be the son of the victim's roommate, was identified as the suspect, and taken into custody without further incident, according to News3LV.
As per the details shared by the 8 News NOW, Mireles had acted strangely upon returning to the apartment during his visit. In the ensuing altercation, he pulled out a knife, and stabbed the victim multiple times. Following his arrest, Mireles was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one count of open murder with a deadly weapon.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department homicide section continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the killing. Information obtained by News3LV confirms that Mireles' mother had invited him over to the apartment, where the violence later erupted. The identity of the victim, along with the cause, and manner of death, will be available through the Clark County Coroner’s Office once released.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the crime to contact the Las Vegas Metro Police Homicide Section or Crime Stoppers. The case against Mireles is still under investigation.
