A tragic incident unfolded on Capitol Hill early this morning, where a 49-year-old woman was fatally injured in a collision with a vehicle, as reported by the Seattle Police Department's blotter. Patrol officers arrived at the 1500 block of Boylston Avenue East around 6:30 a.m., following reports of a crash between a driver and a pedestrian.
The scene was attended by both police and the Seattle Fire Department, the latter of whom quickly transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries. The incident involved a 28-year-old driver who, upon exiting a private parking garage in her vehicle, unknowingly drove over the woman who was lying in the street. According to the authorities, police are not considering this an incident involving impairment, as a Drug Recognition Expert evaluated the driver and found no indications of such.
In the aftermath of the collision, the area was closed off as the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) conducted its inquiries at the scene. The driver, who remained after the accident and cooperated fully with the police, was not under the influence, as assessed by a Drug Recognition Expert.
