Woodburn police have detained a man following a stabbing that left one person hospitalized yesterday. Authorities were summoned to the 800 block of Young Street around 12:30 a.m. after a reported stabbing at an apartment complex, according to information provided by KPTV. The victim was discovered with a stab wound and was transported to the hospital in "stable" condition.
Following the incident, the perpetrator was believed to have fled to another apartment. In a coordinated effort with the Marion County SWAT Team, police executed a search warrant at that apartment, but the suspect, later identified as 37-year-old Luis Tlehuactle Morales, remained elusive at that time, KOIN details the search.
Subsequent to an hours-long search, Morales was spotted by the Woodburn Police at around 6 a.m., walking along Highway 99E near Blaine Street, leading to his arrest without further incident, as reported by KATU.
Morales now faces charges including attempted murder, first-degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon, and is booked in the Marion County Jail, according to the same KATU report. Details on the motive behind the stabbing and the current state of the victim have not been released as of yet.
