Food vendors in Yolo County have a reason to mark their calendars. A free virtual workshop aimed at temporary food vendors has been announced for June 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event, hosted by the Yolo County Environmental Health, will be held via Zoom and is designed to aid those operating at special events such as festivals, county fairs, and farmers markets across the region.
Dishing out details on the essentials of food safety, the workshop plans to thoroughly cover what food vendors need to know to safely operate and pass inspections at community gatherings. Participants will learn how to properly set up a vendor booth, navigate the online permitting process through Yolo County’s new portal, and to quickly resolve common issues during health inspections. A portion of the workshop is being reserved for attendees to directly ask questions to the Environmental Health staff.
"Our aim in hosting this workshop is to inform vendors about food safety regulations and support them through the permitting process," Michelle Bilodeau, Environmental Health Program Coordinator for Yolo County, told the Yolo County News. With this initiative, Yolo County Environmental Health demonstrates its commitment to not only upholding safety standards but also to ensuring that the dining experiences consumers enjoy are up to code and satisfying in every regard.

Yolo County has announced that a recording will be made available for those who cannot tune in during the live presentation. And if you're the type to prefer face-to-face learning, an in-person workshop will also be on the table later this fall in time for the bustling holiday event season.
