Yesterday in Antioch, a confrontation in a liquor store parking lot on Murfreesboro Pike escalated into violent gunfire, leaving one man dead and another wounded. Metro Nashville Police Department identifies the deceased as 42-year-old Brandon Watson. His alleged accomplice, 44-year-old Antione Ellis, who suffered a gunshot wound to the neck, managed to drive himself to TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center. WSMV reports Watson and Ellis as having been on the scene to allegedly carry out a drug-related armed robbery.

According to the police narrative, per WKRN, Watson and Ellis arrived in a Jeep, with Watson subsequently appearing with a long gun. A Dodge Charger soon pulled up alongside, setting the stage for the attempted crime. As Watson approached the vehicle, Ellis is said to have emerged from a secluded area with the long gun, aiming it inside the Charger in what the police allege was an attempt to swiftly rob the driver. The encounter, however, quickly devolved into chaos as the driver managed to break free and begin to open fire indiscriminately out of the window.

Following the shootout, Ellis, according to a statement by the MNPD, attempted and failed to load Watson into their vehicle before driving himself to the nearest hospital. FOX17 details that arrest warrants have been issued for Ellis, including charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, and felony gun possession, pending his release from medical care.
