A 17-year-old, identified as Khalil Valcin, has been taken into custody and faces serious charges, including homicide, in the aftermath of a shooting incident that resulted in the death of 19-year-old Dorrel Ferguson in Wilkinsburg. Allegheny County authorities disclosed that Valcin, who is also accused of possessing a firearm as a minor, surrendered himself to the courts yesterday, according to information reported by WPXI.
On the evening of January 4, around 8:25 p.m., police discovered Ferguson lifeless, with a fatal wound to his upper torso, sprawled along the 1000 block of Ross Avenue. WPXI further notes that Valcin's apprehension resulted from the evidence pieced together through witness statements and analyzed surveillance footage capturing the scene.
Valcin is now held at the Allegheny County Jail. While details regarding the circumstances of the shooting are still unfolding, the community reckons with yet another instance of gun violence shattering lives.
