A 2-year-old boy is fighting for his life after being discovered unconscious in a Bronx backyard, a tragic scenario that unfolded on Thursday afternoon. According to ABC7NY, the young child was found at his home located at 2703 Woodhull Ave. in the Pelham Gardens section and swiftly transported to Jacobi Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Neighbors described a chilling scene, speaking of a piercing scream that preceded the arrival of first responders. "There was an urgency, yeah those cops, the EMT's, firefighters, cops and everybody were moving. They were running to that backyard," one resident recounted to ABC7NY. Another neighbor expressed the heartache upon seeing the child being carried out: "They brought a stretcher in, and they had the baby on it, he looked unresponsive," and added, "I just didn't want to see that it was the baby, because it's not fair."
In a separate report by News 12, authorities confirmed that they responded to a 911 call at the address around 5:42 p.m. The New York Police Department has not yet released details on how the boy lost consciousness. The situation is currently being investigated, as the community waits for answers on what led to this near-tragic event.
