In a tragic incident in west Houston, a 5-year-old girl drowned in an apartment complex pool early this morning. The girl was found unresponsive at the Hudson at Westchase Apartments' pool situated in the 3100 block of Hayes Road shortly after midnight, as reported by KHOU. Houston police and fire departments responded to the call, with officers immediately beginning CPR upon arrival. However, their efforts were in vain as the child was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The discovery was made by a woman resident who had gone to take a late-night swim, subsequently finding the girl in the pool. This resident attempted to quickly render aid but was unable to successfully revive the child. "Investigators say the child lived in an apartment located behind the pool," according to details obtained through KHOU. It remains unclear how she ended up in the water or the duration of time she had been there before being found.
Surveillance footage of the pool area is under review by the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division, as part of their ongoing investigation. This was confirmed by authorities to Click2Houston. They have provided no further details at this time.
