A fatal multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 95 in Brevard County occurred yesterday, claiming the life of one individual and seriously injuring another. The incident took place at around 8:45 a.m. near Mims, as per a preliminary report from the Florida Highway Patrol obtained by Orlando-News. The crash involved a 2020 Toyota Tundra, a 2020 Freightliner semi-truck, and a 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class. It resulted in the temporary blockage of all southbound lanes at mile marker 230, causing significant delays for motorists traveling in the area.

According to a ClickOrlando report, the Toyota Tundra veered off the road to the right for unknown reasons and struck the rear of the parked Freightliner semi-truck. This caused the pickup to then collide with the Mercedes sedan, before going on to hit the median guardrail. The driver of the pickup, a 74-year-old Fort Pierce man, succumbed to his injuries after being taken to Parrish Medical Center.

Details surrounding the cause of the accident remain scant, but the Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate. Following the accident, a 74-year-old New Smyrna Beach woman, who was driving the Mercedes, was reported to have sustained serious injuries and was subsequently hospitalized. The driver of the semi-truck and the truck's passenger were reported to have not suffered injuries and remained at the scene. FHP confirmed that all individuals involved in the accident were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
