
An 80-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the murder of his wife in their apartment at Leisure World. The suspect, identified as Vivian Stewart Nation, was taken into custody after police responded to a call last Saturday evening and found his wife, 78-year-old Beverly Fletcher, deceased with multiple stab wounds and signs of blunt force trauma, as reported by the Montgomery County Department of Police.
According to the police report, officers from the 4th District arrived at 3310 North Leisure World Boulevard after receiving the code alert. It was approximately 6:06 p.m., Nation was found inside of the apartment when they arrived, alongside Leisure World Security. The initial investigation led to Nation's arrest at the scene and he is now facing charges of first-degree murder with a bond hearing scheduled for today.
Fletcher’s body was discovered in a state that indicated a violent altercation, and she was pronounced dead by the officers who first arrived on the scene. A subsequent autopsy performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death as "multiple sharp force injuries," ruling the incident a homicide, as per a report by the Montgomery County Department of Police. Nation is currently being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit as he awaits his bond hearing, and the case is still under investigation by the Major Crimes – Homicide detectives.
