
Houston police confirmed the death of an 89-year-old man, following a car crash that took place last month on the Katy Freeway service road. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of June 16, has culminated in its fatal conclusion today. According to the City of Houston, the identity of the man is currently withheld, pending family notification.
According to the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division, led by Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer T. Johnson, a silver Toyota Sienna was traveling westbound when it experienced a tire blowout. The 59-year-old driver lost control, causing the vehicle to strike a tree and overturn. The cause of the tire blowout remains under investigation.
Following the crash, both the driver and an elderly passenger were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment. The passenger was later pronounced deceased at Ben Taub Hospital, as reported by the City of Houston.
