According to ABC7NY, the victim, identified as Zhuo Xie of 2255 East 15th Street in Brooklyn, was crossing at the intersection of East 14th Street and Avenue U when he was hit. Officials stated that he suffered severe head trauma and was later pronounced dead at NYU Langone Health, Brooklyn.
The NYPD reports that Mr. Xie was in the crosswalk but did not have the light in his favor when the accident occurred. The moped, described as blue and was traveling southbound, had a green light to go through the intersection.
