An off-road vehicular accident in the early hours of Independence Day took a grave turn in Kalkaska County, resulting in one fatality and severe injuries to two others. CBS News Detroit reported that around 2 a.m. on a private property on Inman Road, Springfield Township, a side-by-side all-terrain vehicle (ATV) carrying five passengers rolled over, tragically ending with one passenger's life cut short by the event. CBS News Detroit further documented that Michigan State Police confirmed none of the occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
According to ClickOnDetroit, the driver, a 33-year-old man from Albion, was arrested and jailed under charges of operating while intoxicated, causing death, and two counts of operating while intoxicated, causing serious injury. Following the crash, one of the passengers sustained a serious head injury, and police said in the same statement, a third broke an arm.
