On a warm summer evening last month, gunfire erupted in the Hanover area, leading to a young woman getting injured as she was inadvertently caught in a shootout between two vehicles. The Anne Arundel County Police, responding to reports of the shooting on Arundel Mills Boulevard and Arundel Way, discovered several cars hit by bullets and the 21-year-old victim suffering from a wound to her upper body. She was swiftly taken to the hospital for treatment, as described in a police press release.
In an update provided by the same source, officials outlined the aftermath of the incident. The Anne Arundel County Police Real Time Information Center (RTIC) perused available video footage and offered patrol officers a lead on the suspect's vehicle. That car was later uncovered, deserted in the Meade Village area, with items inside that were of evidentiary relevance. Police locked down the vehicle for further examination, and the collected evidence was handed over to Western District detectives for escalated scrutiny.
The investigation snowballed, and authorities executed a search warrant on the car. Their findings connected the vehicle to a suspect and eventually led to the identification of two additional suspects and four residences associated with criminal activity. Concurrent searches conducted on July 18 at these addresses—in Meade Village and Baltimore City—turned up an arsenal of firearms, extended magazines, electronic gadgets, and a substantial stash of illegal substances, including cannabis and PCP.
Four individuals were ensnared in the sweep, involving a minor and three adults. Arrested were a 15-year-old from Severn, Maryland, along with 39-year-old Jermaine Anthony Ricks and 25-year-old Drameek Carlius Wallace, both from the same town. Moreover, Davon Antoine Hughes, 27, from Glen Burnie, was charged with diverse drug and firearm offenses. In total, the seizures included over $5,600 in cash and a large quantity of suspected narcotics, as detailed in the press release.
